Default Sourcing differences China / India

Guys,

My company is in the infancy of sourcing from India, we have a well established source base from China.

What things do we need to consider when sourcing from India in comparison to sourcing from China.

Thinking about

Cultural differances
Transport differences
Quality Standards
National Holidays
Costs
Direct / Indirect sourcing

Any views would be most welcome.

Well currently many of the products are free from the govt regulation.... however there are some still under the goverment control.. so you need to figure out .. is your product is free.

there is export pramotion council (govt owned)and trade boards from where you can get the information.... ( even the customs as well as regulation )

if you let me know what excatly you want to soucre .. then i would be able to provide exact council may be in some case exact point of contact.....

Cheers

Cultural differances : well dpends on product however you can find the supplier who can produce according to your standard.

Transport differences : compare to UK .... its too bad as infrastracture... however they can supply or the ship on the vessal you mention.

Quality Standards : ISI ( Indian standard) and ISO 9000 , but still they are ready to get the certificate from the department mentioned by importer.

National Holidays : have lot of ,,,,, but officialy every company will have 11-13 days.

Costs : yep you can bargain always...

Direct / Indirect sourcing : you can touch the direct point.. there are some companies who can act as your buyer and source all the products you want... i mean just one point of contact.. and .. bargaining even..

hope i answered ...
