Default Inbound transportation software

Hi,

I hope I am posting to the right thread. I was wondering if there is any commercial software out there to optimize inbound transportation depending on the common variables (weight, size of shipment, transportation cost,....etc).

I am a newbie in this field so any feeback is appreciated.

Iyad,

I dont know the nature of your business, but have you considered onboarding a freight logistics company such as DHL, NYK, etc.
These types of companys have software that they utilise to manage all inbound freight and they will be able to aid you in optimisation.

Alternatively I know of a Transport and Scheduling tool called Paragon, that is successfully used to optimise Vehicle and fleet management, not sure if this will apply to inbound traffic though, you will have to research it.

If you need a more sofisticated business intelligence solution, there are a few, I can suggest.

Well, I am only knowledgeable about the US market. There are 2 major categories - enterprise BI, the one that integrated with all your data warehouses, crms, and the one that requires heavy IT support in your company, and the on-demand version of BI, which is SaaS-based solution (software as a service). For the first Category, you should look at monsters like Cognos/IBM, Oracle, SAP. For smaller ones, that doesn’t require to have a dedicated it team in-house, and basically provided by a solution-maker, I would mention Pivotlink, LucidEra, Oco. I personally prefer Oco business Intelligence Solutions, and especially in your case, you ought to visit this site, because you'll find a lot of data and valuable educational materials related to the topic in their Knowledge Center , and they have already nailed down transportation solution that you might be interested in.
