How long to implement S&OP?

I need to implement S&OP in our business. From scratch. We have poor processes, lack of communication and no systems.

How long do you reckon to implement?

Should we start with a manual process first?

I would have thought it would take a long time........from scratch. At least 6 months.

3-6 months is fairly normal I think.

Depends if you also implement an S&OP IT system or just manual processes. If the latter, I reckon given some training and a couple of rounds of S&OP meetings, you would be ready in 3 months.

My experience is that to start from scratch and do it manually will take 3 months just to get the basics right and start to get some clarity of the information and reports you will need. So don't promise your boss it will all be working in 3 months :-)

It took us just under 6 months to see some tangible results. But the journey was worth it and results are now being delivered.

I would certainly go along with 3-6 months.
