Both sides have to commit to working with each other to achieve mutual benefit. In my experience there can be an us and them attitude that prevents common and shared goals being expressed. 3PLs generally want something in return for their management input and therefore keep their cards close to their chests and the host business has outsourced in order to limit its own involvement in day to day management. This stand-off approach appears to be a major hurdle in forming working relationships and a barrier to achieving a successful relationship.
