Default Overt Advertising......Not Allowed

Please do not use this board just to advertise your own products and services. The forums are for discussion and knowledge sharing, not overt advertising. If would like to have paid advertising on this site, then by all means contact me or use the Google Advert facility as others have done.

Regular members, those who have been members for 7 days or more and have posted at least 10 times, are able to use signatures and add URL links to those signatures. Guidelines on signatures and advertising can be found in this thread.

Signatures and Advertsing

Update.

I have noticed recently that new members have signed up, only to advertise on line drug or porn sites. These threads were immediately deleted and the users banned. So if you sign up with that intention, don't waste your time or mine. I can ban your username and even IP address, quicker than you can post the threads :-)

I have asked members if some limited advertising should be allowed. See this thread.

Allow some advertising?

I would be interested in banner advertising on your site - do you think, we can work it out?

Also, how to add a signiture (link) to my profile?

Thanks,

Sasha

Sasha, At the moment we do not offer banner advertising, but that might come soon. I'll let you know when it does.

Regarding the sig links, that is accessed via the user CP. I'll copy the format below.

So for your site as an example, the text would be entered like this.

For you to see all the text and code, I need to take out the first and last brackets. Other wise it will appear here as a hyperlink. Hope that makes sense.

Open square bracket. One of these [
URL="http://www.supplierevaluations.com/"]Supplier Evaluations[/URL

Close square bracket, one of these ]

The second bit in brackets being the text that will be displayed.

sorry, for being so dumb at the beginning, but I have one more question.

There is a topic Inbound transportation software, where I mentioned, that if somebody is interested in Business Intelligence solutions, I might suggest a couple. I've got the response, that somebody does interested. Now, I need to suggest real companies names and, probably, links. Will it be an advertising? In American terms, it would not be - because I am going to list companies who are direct competitors to each other. But I understand, this is European/UK forum. What should I do?

Sasha,

You are not being dumb it is a valid question, and possibly is a little bit of a grey area, as long as you have no affiliation in any shape way or form with any of the comapnies that you list then it is ok, however proving that you have no affiliation with the stated companies is the grey area, that is why we like to refrain from promoting companies openly on the forum, if a user wants information from you, as you have indicated from your post, then I suggest that you ask the user to contact you by PM whence you can then give him/her directly the company names without compromising the openess and fairness of the forum area.

Sasha,

As SJ says, sending information by PM is the best option if you are in doubt.
