Hide Buying Expertise

I am an executive search recruiter and I have a new retainer with a client who is interested in hiring a Purchasing Director. This is an extremely challenging search due to the fact that my client is requiring experience in the leather industry or hide buying...as in cattle hides. The hides are used to manufacture their products.

There has been some difficulty in identifying candidates due to the specific nature of this search and I'm looking for some suggestions on where to source my target candidates. We have worked the following markets: Automotive, Furniture, Shoes/Footwear, Apparel... It appears that the majority of the hide buying business has been offshored. Does anyone have any suggestions?
